AYA by Marguerite Abouet + Clement Oubrerie

This graphic novel was written by Marguerite Abouet and illustrated by her husband Clement Oubrerie in 2006. The graphic novel/comic was published in France first and later in English by Drawn and Quarterly. It is about the stories of one womans life in the Ivory Coast of Africa...There have been three parts to the story published and an animated film based on the book is in production.

Baba Dawud Anyabwile is one of the founding members of the African American Comics scene.Started in the early 90's with "Brotherman" which he illustrated, his brother Guy Sims wrote, and his entire family helped to promote, produce, and sell went on to sell something like 750,000 books all without DC or Marvel!!!!
